Hey, Foodies! I’ve got another event coming up for ya next weekend in Brooklyn!
Grub Crawl is a dream-come-true tasting event that will blow your taste buds away! Each night offers an exploration of a different neighborhood giving not only your tastebuds a broader horizon but your general understanding of the diverse borough of Brooklyn will grow as well.
Friday June 1st: Carroll Gardens. Highlight of the night: high hopes for Seersucker. 4 stops total. $160
Saturday June 2nd: Williamsburg. Highlight of the night: Meatball Shop (if only for the fact that I wouldn’t be having to wait 2 1/2 hours for a table). Maison Premiere struck out because of the fact that I got food poisoning from oysters a few weeks ago and have since cut NY seafood out of my diet forever. 5 eateries, and a concert makes 6 stops. $215
Sunday June 3rd: Red Hook. Highlight of the night: Mile End or Stumptown Coffee. 5 stops. $185
The ABSOLUTELY FREE event I posted yesterday takes place on the best day of all three. If I had moolah in the bank I would make it out to both the BBQ and the Red Hook Crawl but unfortunately I’m as broke as the old clock collecting dust in your attic.
Should be fun, though! I’d love if any attendees send reviews and pics once it’s over so I can decide whether or not for next year. Cheers!

Given my sudden uproot to the big apple, decision to trust time warner with installing internet in my apartment and overall recent occupation with the real world, I’ve been quite absent from this blog. I’ve missed it through and through and cannot WAIT to talk about all the culture I’ve encountered during my leave of absence. There is just SO much music I want to share with you all! However, as I previously noted in another post, Tumblr only allows one mp3 upload per day and since I’m no computer hacking whiz, we’re going to have to settle on one. I haven’t forgotten about the other 7 Metronomy songs from The English Riviera I promised but that is just going to have to wait. I’m just too excited about my recent discoveries to even begin blabbering about the greatest band ever to walk this Earth (which I continually do day-to-day amongst coworkers and others I meet in life). Honestly I haven’t even decided which one I’m going to upload today (it’s that tough).

I have a personal DJ that plays for me (who shall remain unnamed until further notice, but for now let’s just call him DJ Boyfriend). After perusing the music blogs (aka The Hype Machine) trying to learn a bit more about an electronic music act called Light Year I ended up with more music than I bargained for. For me, shopping around for new music on the internet is the same as visiting the grocery store: more often than not I end up with 3x as many items I originally planned on getting. So I found out a number of things about Light Year as well as indie remix producers RAC, who just came out with their first original track. It’s called “Hollywood” and it features Penguin Prison on vocals. Take a listen here. Be sure to check out PP at the Governors Ball next month on Randall’s Island in NYC. The bill also features Passion Pit, Beck, Modest Mouse, Chromeo and many more. Best part about this festival: no overlapping sets! Unfortunately, a performance intensive that I signed up for DOES overlap and I won’t be able to attend. So sad.

Back to Light Year! My sudden interest in these guys were sparked by their appearance on the upcoming HARD Summer Lineup. Previously, I’d only downloaded one track by them (recommended by DJ Boyfriend), a track you’ve heard if you saw Mr. Oizo, Soulwax, Erol Alkan or Tiga during their earlier 2011 tours. That track is called Sex Education, and you can take a listen here. Two weeks ago the duo dropped Moderation on us. Check it out here. What a track. It combines a heavy bass with echoing vocals and draws inspiration from the sub-genre “minimal”. It seems that a lot of (what I like to call) “high-end” DJ’s are getting into this type of music. Smart move, Light Year. Work it.

If the remix that I’m posting doesn’t impress you then I don’t know what will!

I would also like this for Christmas so that I may pack for my move with it.

First of all, I would like to credit my little man Scott for finding the treasure.
See you at Irving Plaza.

Metronomy 3.

I sort of regretted posting what is, in my opinion, the best song on the album second instead of saving it for last. I mean, that’s the order Metronomy put it on their album, second. But then I remembered that time old saying, “Art is in the eye of the beholder.” Which is so true. So in the end, the order really doesn’t matter, as long as you’ve heard it all. Each and every song has SOMETHING to it… and is it okay if we just take a moment to relish in the moment of “Get up and we get down” (first heard 1:36-1:38)? The musicality is just so lovely I get sweet, sweet chills every time I hear it as the song is stuck on repeat in my thoughts.

A Little Boots DJ set? That should be interesting. And Bardot? Always wanted to go but never had an excuse to…until now. This is her 3 years ago, let’s see how she’s improved.
RSVP to event here.

Metronomy 2.

This song is called “Everything Goes My Way” and I swear it is my favorite song that I’ve ever heard. Ever wonder what Nirvana sounds like? I’m pretty sure it would sound something like this. When you’re in love man, you can really feel this song. And I think everyone’s in love with someone whether they know it or not.
